Ziengenwald Dairy
John and Andre Woodworth
Ziegenwald Dairy is owned and operated by John and Andrea Woodworth. Our Farm is located on Possum Creek, near Gate City, in Scott Co. Virginia. We relocated to this area in December of 1993 and bought our first goats in spring of ’94. In 2008 we attained our Grade A Dairy license which allows us to sell homestead cheese. Our Cheese is made from the milk of only our own animals. We do not use hormones or antibiotics to enhance milk production.
We produce Chevre most of the year which is sold either plain or with added natural flavors such as: garlic/dill, garlic/Sacred basil, garlic/black pepper, dill, chives and Sacred basil. We also flavor with raspberry, peach, apricot, and mulberry jams. We usually have a limited amount of Colby style semi-hard cheese to offer. In 2011 Feta was added to our list of farmstead cheeses. It is available either dry, or marinated in olive oil. We also offer Mozzarella style cheese. Our Camembert is a seasonal product sold at farmers markets or as special order due to short shelf life. We do not add chemical preservatives to any of our products. Goats are seasonal milk producers and during winter and early spring our assortment of cheeses is limited. We can be contacted for product availability and current prices at 276-386-2419 or e-mail us at [email protected]
